Betty Ssekirevu Lunkuse

Betty Ssekirevu Lunkuse is a Ugandan writer, creative artist, entrepreneur, and travel enthusiast. 

In April 2024, her stage play ‘Twali Banji’ which exposes ‘the tragic loss of premature newborns in healthcare facilities, and the psychological and emotional issues mothers struggle with there-after’ had its first reading at Ndere Cultural Centre. In November 2023, her radio playThe Other Side of the Globe’ which explores a ‘single-mother’s dilemma on staying home or being trafficked to the Middle East in pursuit of Greener pastures’, debuted at the Kampala International Theatre Festival, powered by Tebere Arts Foundation –  her voice featured in NUDES radio play under the same program. In 2019, Betty debuted her first stage dance play ‘Voices’, an advocacy piece against gender-based violence. She has worked as a writer, voice actor, model, actor, and creative director and has been featured by BRAC & the MasterCard Foundation, She Leads Africa, The Observer, SineBlog Turkey, Sqoop by the Daily Monitor, and Brittle Paper among other publications. 

Outside her ‘theatrical scope’, betty freelances as a copywriter, ghostwriter and educator.

As an entrepreneur, Betty founded The Beulah Shop, an Initiative and distribution outlet that empowers artisans in rural Uganda by bringing their handmade products to the marketplace.
